Hello folks!
I was chatting with @boba87fett the other day about the idea of attempting to nail down an as accurate as possible design for the ESB gauntlet flamethrower by inviting the whole community here on the forum to offer up any thoughts, ideas, opinions, and reference towards that goal. It seems that there have been many replicas produced over the years that have involved a fair bit of artistic license due to the somewhat limited reference available and thus the details have varied considerably. I thought it might be cool to get everyone here to participate in the process of refining the design to be as accurate as we can get and reach some sort of consensus on what this thing really looks like. Once we have a design we can all agree on (people on the internet are known for agreeing on things, right?) we could look at having a run of metal replicas produced for us all to enjoy.
I would be happy to offer up my 3D modeling skills to iterate our collective design as it develops with people's input. I could also actually machine some metal prototype pieces when we get close to nailing down the details to see how things look when they are realized physically and further the comparisons and design refinement if needed. At the end of the design process, I can forward all the drawings/models to whomever we find to produce the actual run.
So what do people think? Is anyone interested in participating in such a project? I'd love to hear your thoughts. All contributors are welcome!
If we get some people on board, I can quickly throw together a rough first pass 3D model of the basic forms of this thing that we can start picking apart and refining.
